A new year. It’s 2018!

A new year

I blinked, and sneezed, and just like that, a new year. It’s 2018!! I worked so hard to prepare the for the new year but sure as the ball drops on Time Square, I’m sick again.  Every year at the same time I end up spending the holidays just barely making it through.   I did enjoy some time with my family.  My grandson learned to clap. I got some great gifts and managed to cook a ham.  Well, I guess I heated a ham.  All of it, a blur.  Still grateful for every moment.

My goal

My goal list still sits on the table.  I’ve got some great ones for 2018.  The first of which is to post to this blog at least once a week.  I’m still not really sure what I will accomplish by writing every week but at the moment I guess it’s just a way to organize my thoughts and figure out what the hell I’m doing with my life. I’ve already explained my dream of being artsy crafty and traveling.  Maybe doing some craft fairs along the way.  Freedom is the overall goal.  Pretty broad.  So where do I start?

The wood burning is going quite well.  I have a lot to learn and a long way to go when I browse instagram and compare myself to other pyrographers.  They have all been so supportive though and I love the community.  So much talent and really, the sky is the limit.  I have enough ideas to last a lifetime.  I’m planning on sticking with it for long time.  The down side is, when you’re sick and coughing your head off, smoke from burning wood does not help.  So, for the moment, wood burning is on hold.  *sigh*

Getting organized

In the meantime, I’ve been working on setting my new appointment book for new year.  I had a nice one I’ve used for 2 years but when I went to order a new one, it was $60!  Really?  Seems like a lot for a book that I was not entirely happy with.

So, I made my own.  We’ll see how that goes and once I tweek it a little bit in the next few months, I’ll do a post and share.  So far it’s working out well and I feel like it’s a huge step in the right direction as far as staying organized and on top of things.

It’s nice to have everything right where I need it.  Old skool style.  In a binder with no battery to charge or having to worry about leaving it my back pocket and dropping it in the toilet.  I mean, I guess I could drop it in the toilet but it’s a pretty big binder and that would be weird.  I do like to use my online calendar for reminders and such but I still like to see everything written out on a two page spread.

Plus, I get to sketch around everything and customize.  I guess it’s what crafty people do. Yes? Idk. I like it.

My book tells me it’s time to clean up a little and go to the salon and do some nails for a little while.  Tans2Toes  Check out my instagram if you like nail art.  I still have to do a tour of the salon but I’ll save it for another day when I’m not running on Nyquil and an inhaler.  I hope the rest of you had a fabulous holiday and a happy new year.  Im going to give myself a break and start my year a week late.  It’s ok.  It’s only a week and at least I didn’t start it off with a hangover.  😉
